Safety Spotlight #4 – Keeping Your Muffs On

Today’s Safety Spotlight is perhaps the most important of them all – Keeping Your Muffs On.

Muffs are wonderful things. There is nothing more satisfying then snuggling up in your muffs, while doing noisy and sweaty jobs. They are a blessing, and they’re the most important piece of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) that you can possibly own. This guide will inform you of the benefits as to why you should always be wearing your muffs.

What is a muff?
Muffs are PPE that protect you from the loud outside sounds that may damage your ears. High pitched squealing for example, would damage your ears if you do not have your head inside your muffs. They are generally two fluffy or leathery items which you slip you head between.

What are the potential damages to my hearing if I do not wear my muffs?safeandsound
Well, there are many dangers associated with loud noises. The most common is the explosion of the inner ear, which leaves you with permanent brain damage, and a rather messy shirt covered in blood and ear canal. Of course, the dry cleaning bill alone is enough reason to ensure that you are properly muffed when using performing loud activities such as drilling or pounding.

Where can I acquire a pair of muffs?
Your local PIMP (PPE Issuing Muff Provider) will provide you with muffs if you are unable to acquire your own, for a nominal fee.

Please, follow these tips and ensure that your hearing is not damaged while getting busy at work.
