Swine Flu….what am I going to do?!

The country is now on full alert as “Swine Flu” is turning into a full-blown pandemic. If the media is to be believed, millions will be dead within the space of days. Bodies will be lying in the street and pigs will rise up and take over the world. The Sun has even suggested that pig zombies may soon be walking half-heartedly towards you, making odd noises with full intentions of eating you, ala Resident Evil.

It’s all a bit overboard. They have nothing to worry about. They’re not exactly going to come into contact with a huge bunch of Mexicans are they? Me on the other hand? Every bus route I take to work stops at North Manchester General, if anybody goes to get a checkup for this thing, I’m going to contract it in secconds!

Working in Safety is of course a benefit here, because I can easily get hold of one of those funny mask things. Infact I could probably obtain an entire Asbestos breathing suit in a pinch, but walking round looking like a Doctor Who monster will no doubt cramp my style.

So, could a worldwide pandemic actually occur? Well, the theory is that if a virus mutates enough in regularly consumed animals such as pigs, birds, whatever, that the virus could spread around the planet and kill humans off due to the act we’d have no immunity from it. As a result half the population could dissapear.

I for one think rush hour would be a lot more bareable. Plus there would be plenty of homes available, releaving overcrowding. I don’t really like the odds though. I think I had better start stocking up on disinfectant…

The Awesome One Year Anniversary

The One Year Cake....big, huh?

You’re going to be so fucking proud. Honestly.

Today is the first birthday of the greatest blog since the 10 commandments, and to celebrate, the website has been given a complete and total overhaul. It’s really swish, fantastic, on the cutting edge. It’s even web2.0….

I could spend a good day or two listing all the new stuff you can play with on here, but it’d take me forever and you probably wouldn’t read it, so instead, I’ll just share my favourite bits.

The first, and most called out for feature is the ability to leave a comment! This is supplemented by the ability to share the blog posts with all your favourite social networking things, like MyFace, Spacebook, Twater and Peabo. I guess the most exciting part of all, though, is the fact that this website now has a backend, meaning it can shit properly. It also means I can change and add to it from a web browser (read: from work) without much effort. This’ll mean much more frequent blog posts, updates etc.

And if that wasn’t enough for you….. this new site is actually finished! Yes, finished. Fitted and furnished. Complete. Wonderbar.  The contact page works, the videos have been rejigged, the whole thing now works in harmony and, most important, the safety spotlight has made a glorious return along with all the other things I was supposed to re-upload one year ago.

I knew you’d be proud. I propose a toast.  Here’s to another….year!
