Game Over for FileFront…

It would seem that the current economic downturn has sadly taken it’s toll on FileFront, (In my day known as FilesNetwork / FileFreak) – and although I haven’t visited for a couple of years now, I still have a few friends who go there and seem a little sad about it.

I have to admit that, while there are far more important things to worry about, it is sad to know that a lot of the hard work some people put into that place, for free no less, will now be FileFront - 1998 to 2009consigned to a recycle bin. It’s sad for all the folks too who will be loosing their jobs and of course, now have to replace that income someplace. It’s sad for folks like JJ who, while no longer with the company, will see his shining glory dissapear, probably forever.

Still, it just shows what the credit crunch can cause, major names like Woolworths and MFI have folded here recently, and nearly every business seems to be struggling. My own small business has been cutting back costs and feeling the force of it, even at MCC we’re feeling the strain too, with job cuts and restructures. All our futures are in the balance, including my own.

Of course I am just happy to have a job and a relatively profitable venture going at the moment, but it’s a worrying time we live in, and I for one am preparing as best I can for the future.

Still, I’ll have to raise a glass to FileFront. If any current or ex-FF/FN/GF guys happen to read this, feel free to drop me a line, I’ll buy you an e-beer.
